Training Philosophy

I recently saw in a catalogue a sign that stated that “Riding was the art of keeping the horse between you and the ground.” At Simply 3-Day we disagree. As much as mounted time is essential for success when it comes to a horse there is so much more to horsemanship than just the time spent in the saddle. We as the riders/owners are the stewards entrusted with the well-being of the horse mentally and physically both as a competitor and as a companion.

I feel that in a world where we are can jump on the internet and find the answer to any question ,watch a movie on our PC instantly, text message a friend regarding a lunch and so on, we as a society lacking the ability to be patient. Well, with a horse we have no choice but to learn to be. The horse is not a machine that can be filled up with a tank of gas and off you go. The horse need communication, understanding, nurturing and consistency. A horse teaches us to control our emotions, highs and low. A horse teaches you responsibility, integrity, and compassion.

At Simply 3-Day our focus is to gain horsemanship through positive instruction and patience. Nothing will happen overnight when it comes to a horse. Learning is a difficult process and it should be encouraged not criticized. You will learn more from your mistakes than you will from your victories. At Simply 3-Day we want you to be able to walk away from your hardest day with a sense of accomplishment and success not failure. You will be taught through encouragement and teamwork. You will never have to face a challenge alone, whether it be an injury to you or the horse, a bump in training or simply a bad day.
